Rhenium is one of the by-products in production process of Molybdenum Oxide. Rhenium symbol is Re with atomic number of 75. Rhenium is one of the scarce elements in the Earth crust, which had not been discovered until 1925. One of the greatest properties of Rhenium is its high melting point (more than 3200 C). Because of the high melting point of Rhenium, it is mainly used in Nickel based super alloys, which are utilized in combustion chambers, turbines and jet engine nozzles. The high melting temperature of this element enables the alloy to maintain its strength even in high temperatures. Typically super alloys contain six percent of Rhenium that are applied for manufacturing jet engines. Super alloys are also used in petrochemical industry. In some petrochemical reactions, some catalysts are used like Rhenium-Platinum alloy to increase the Octane of some hydrocarbons. The average Rhenium concentration in Earth crust is less than1Ppb. In nature, this precious element is found in solid compounds of Molybdenite in Copper and Molybdenum mines.
Since 2013, Ranguin Ahan Company has been producing Rhenium in two forms of Ammonium Perrhenate and Potassium Perrhenate. For further information the following specification of a standard product are provided:
